Bird on a Cross

Up so high on a church's Steeple
Sits a Bird looking at the People
Whistling a tune mournfully Sang
In harmony as the church bell Rang

Way up high upon the church's Cross
Forever her flight is at a Loss
Whistling by night hopes of Flying
Whistling by day hopes of Dying

One by one a feather plucked will Fall
Plucked raw until there are none at All
Her painful song echoed in the Breeze
Taken far away beyond the Trees

Up so high on a church's Steeple
Sits a Bird looking at the People
Whistling a tune so sad to Sing
All because she has a broken WIng
