Lake Hopatcong News

My latest news:  If you have been subscribed to my Newsletter for at least seven months, this isn't such a new topic for you.  However, for those of you who haven't, I have been keeping this quiet in fear that things might have fallen through.

Last October I was interviewed to be featured in a magazine article. Her it is May and I'm now proud to present the article in Lake Hopatcong News. I literally just found out within the last 24 hours that it was live. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find out I was to be featured on the front cover as well. I believe it's being distributed today to the stores in surrounding towns. However, for those who are not in the area or abroad, the entire issue is on line. Due to what is going on in the world today, this is the first issue of Lake Hopatcong News that they will presented on line. See link below to read it. I'm on the centerfold spread, pages 22 - 23. Nice to be a part of Lake Hopatcong New's history! Enjoy!

The Moodna Viaduct

The Moodna Viaduct is an iron railroad trestle spanning Moodna Creek and its valley at the north end of Schunemunk Mountain in Cornwall, New York, near the village of Salisbury Mills.

This beast was constructed beginning 1906 and was open in January, 1909.  Her length cross a beautiful scenic valley spans 3,200 feet (975 meters).  It's height is 194 feet (59 meters).

To see this in its entirety is simply breathtaking and to take on the view from atop it truly a treat to behold!

If The Chair Fits, Sit In It

The question poses, whom sat in this chair?
Of course a chair that simply matches the personality of the individual who sits in it.
If the chair is right and fits the personality,
then it shouldn't take too long to get comfortable.

Abandoned?

A house that I've passed many times thinking it was abandoned.  No steps leading to the front door, Lawn overgrown a few feet and trashed and junk piled everywhere as well as car with four flat tires sitting in the driveway.

Stopped to take a look with camera and gear.  As I was snapping a few photographs right near the front door without steps, I was ready to find a way inside.  Upon doing so I suddenly realized there were people living in it.

Oops!

Permission to Cross

Private Crossing
No Trespassing
Right to Pass with Permission Only

One can only cross these track with permission. But what if one already were on the other side never crossing the tracks to begin with? No signs indicating permission. Did they already have the right of passage?

I was on the other side and crossed the tracks. Upon returning across the tracks to get back to where I was, saw the sign. Now I'm stuck on the side of the tracks I don't want to be. Now what?

Good Friday

And when the world seems like it's falling apart
There are some who still give us a piece of their heart
Unto us all now we can begin to start
Love one another even though we are miles apart

Miss and Love to all on this Good Friday and every day!

Tom's Diner

The legendary Tom's Diner a 1930's Silk City railroad style is the second oldest diner in New Jersey.  Known as the Diner Capital of the World sadly Tom's Diner closed it's kitchen for the last time in 2005.

For those of you around the world that this diner may look remotely familiar, it was featured in Cyndi Lauper's iconic 1984 video:  "Time After Time."  Restoring the diner was attempted but due to funds it fell at the waist-side.

If you want to see more photographs I took of Tom's Diner, visit my webpage: Tom's Diner and see how she looks today.

One last thought…  Could Tom's Diner be the reference after the 1987 song with the same name sung by Suzanne Vega?  Hmmm
