February 29th ~ Leap Year

It only comes but once every four years!

"Pardon me Boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?  Yes, yes, Track 29!"

The 29th day of February was yesterday… It only come around once every four years and I always wondered why this day appears on our calendar.  For those who don't know, for the Earth to make a complete orbit around the sun takes exactly 365.2422 days to complete.  However, the Gregorian calendar uses only 365 days.  So, Leap Seconds and Leap Years are added as means of keeping our clocks (and calendars) in sync with the Earth and its Seasons.  Seems a bit silly doesn't it?

The Roman calendar used to have 355 days a year with an extra 22 day month every two years which was ludacris until Julius Caesar became Emperor in the 1st Century who demanded a change by the Alexandrian Astronomer Sosigenes to formulate something easier to comprehend.  The Sosigenes decided that a 365 day year with an extra day every four years would be most practical.  This is when February 29th was born.

Nearly 500 years later the formula was tweaked ever so slightly by Pope GregoryXIII's Astronomers who decided to omit three days every 400 hundred years when the Gregorian calendar was introduced in1582.  This math has worked as of late, but most likely will have to be though out again in 10,000 years if and when our globe will still be in existence.

Just a few Fun faces about February 29th:
◆  It is customary for a Woman to propose to the Man she wants to marry on this day.
◆  If you were born on February 29th before 12:00PM, you celebrate it on
February 28th.  If you were born after 12:00PM, you celebrate on March 1st which
     is also St. Davids Day.
◆  February 29th has brought much campaigning to be a Work Free Day.  However,
nothing has been decided due to Money Hungry Typhoons losing an extra days
     pay!

On This Day:
1996:  The siege of Sarajevo was lifted after almost four years.
◆  1984:  Pierre Trudeau resigned as Prime Minister of Canada.
◆  1964:  The Queen's cousin, Princess Alexandria, gave birth to a Son, James Ogilvy.
◆  1960:  Thousands perished when an earthquake devastated Agadir, Morocco.
◆  1940:  Hattie McDaniel became the first black person to win an Oscar for her role in
     "Gone with the Wind."

The Portly Porter's Port

In port, the portly Porter ported the port, through the port port.
Though the portly Porter's port which was poured in port ported.
The ported port poured by the portly Porter in port through the port.

The Snow Never Falls

She always hated the snow and refused to have it for she wanted to live in the warmer climate where snow never fell.  But up North the snow always came and she locked herself in the house not wanting anything to do with it.

The first and last time she did venture out into the snow to walk her Dog.  She slipped on the icy snow falling down a flight of stairs breaking her hip and ribs that caused internal bleeding. Ultimately her unfortunate fate was six days, on the sixth hour and sixth minute later.

Now til this day as she rests six feet under, she refuses to have snow fall upon her.  Fact or Fiction, you be the Judge!

Spirit & Soul

She's still alive, she's not Dead
This Angel without a Head
Her Spirit and Soul lives On
Even yet her head is Gone

Love still reigns upon the Land
That's what makes her oh so Grand
Protect you under her Wing
And guide you and let Love Sing

Fail into WIn

Just cruising under 65mph for that is as fast as my Forsakenly Departed Pickup will handle before she starts rattling as if I was driving over railroad tracks.  My front stabilizer has to be replaced which I'm holding off until Spring.

So to start over...  Just cruising under 65mph I saw this box truck that caught my eye.  It was delightfully painted by graffiti Artists somewhere in an urban area.  I didn't have my camera at the time and tried desperately to capture it on my iPhone which came out horrible.  I only took three and this is the one that came out the best if you even want to consider it a contender.

Though this photograph doesn't do any justice, I like it for other reasons, color, movement etc.  So as one might think this as a fail...  I think of it as a win!  But that's just me...

Tarot Card ~ The World

"The World" Turned Up for Me

The Twenty First Card of the Major Arcana

Though some may not endure and believe in the reading of Tarot Cards...  I am a true believer for when they were read to me over thirty years ago by a close friend who was an avid Reader, my fate as she predicted was hauntingly accurate.  My buddy who also had his read at the same time was skeptical thinking it was all a farce.  Unfortunately, his fate was as accurate as mine though less fortunate ending horrifically.  This is something I seldom speak of and usually only to the one who read the cards to me.  She remembers vividly as I do and comes up in conversation every time we speak.  I'll be honest when I say that I'm extremely reluctant to have my cards read to me for I so believe in it to the point of fearing what my fate from this moment through the future will be.

As for the meaning of the World card.  It is mostly associated with Earth and often refers to the end of one Quest or Journey and the subsequent search that is to begin a new Quest or Journey.  The central image of the card is of a beautiful nude Woman frolicking and dancing within a Wreath of Olive leaves.  This Wreath of Olive leaves symbolizes Victory over the struggles I have faced.  (This explains my long life struggle in a satisfying and self fulfilling career).  The Staff, Wand or Baton she holds in each hand symbolizes that I will continue upon my path and the two pathways of Creation Evolution and Involution which now are open.

In each corner of the card lays a Mystical Creature who represent many meanings and different Strengths and Qualities.  The Cherub or Angel (top left) representing the star sign of Aquarius and the element Water.  The Eagle (top right) representing the star sign Scorpio and the element Air.  The Bull (bottom left) representing the star sign of Taurus and the element of Earth.  Lastly I say with pride is the Lion which represents the star sign of Leo (my zodiac sign) and the element Fire.  Also they all represent the four points of the compass and the four corners of the Universe.  So many representations and meanings all within the the beautiful Dancer's Power and Sight.  I found out that these four symbols are also seen on the Wheel of Fortune card.

I by no means am knowledgable in the reading and/or deciphering the meanings of Tarot Cards, yet I'm quite intrigued by them and seek out what each represent.  I come to find that there are several variations of the same cards as well as meanings which puzzles me.

One thing for sure, I am blessed that my World has not been reversed.

Whatcha say?

Grandfather:   “What?  Whatcha say?  I didn’t hear yea.  What?”

Grandson:       “I said, don’t you think that it’s time that you started getting
                          dinner ready?”

Grandfather:   “What’s that again?”

Grandson:       “Dinner Ready, Dinner Ready!”

Grandfather:   “Ever Ready batteries?  No we don’t have any in the house.”

Grandson:       “Not Ever Ready.  I said Dinner Ready.  It’s Time to Start Dinner!”

Grandfather:   “A carton of thinner?  Now why on earth do yea need that?
I think we have a gallon or two in the shed.  But I can’t deal
with that now, it’s about time I’ve gotten dinner ready… "

Happy Valentine's Day

She held her Heart low, for it was so heavy.  Though she knew she was loved, she was never told.  Now that the one who was saving it for today to here how much she meant to him has now gone.  She never heard those three words.

If you wait for a special day to say how much one means to you, it just might be to late.  Tomorrow is not promised for you or they may not be here when it arrives.  Don't wait for a this special day that is expected to hear what is not normally said throughout the year.

Say it always...
"I LOVE YOU "

To Play Once More

She looks up into the Skies
With tears dropping from her Eyes
No matter how hard she tries
Those tears she cannot Disguise

A loved one has gone Away
Who's illness has gone Astray
She kneels down and starts to Pray
That once they will again Play

To freely run through the Field
Illness that has now been Healed
Remembering when she Kneeled
When prayed nonstop without Yield

She looks up into the Skies
No tears dropping from her Eyes
Their afterlife has no Lies
They both now will never die

The Word of God

And as she sat there all alone in her dilapidated wooden wheelchair...  All she could do is roll herself to the window praying that one day she'll be able to walk freely outside and enjoy the Cherry Blossoms.

She has no family nor any friends to call upon...   Just her broken dreams and the Word of God.

And that Word is...

Fortune Cookie ~ Po's Advice

Hold tight to your Dreams and your Bowl

This was the fortune I received in my Fortune Cookie today.  I understand holding onto my dreams, never letting them go...  But bowl?!  And what specifically type of bowl are we talking about?  One can only wonder.

Let's see...  A packed Hashish Bowl for Inspiration.  A Rice Bowl for when you get the Munchies to feed the Soul. It's starting to make sense now...  And the Toilet Bowl for...  Well, we all know the answer to that.

The question I have is...  Are my Dreams shattered?  It certainly seems that way by the looks of this Toilet Bowl! Awe Snap, Shattered Dreams Flushed Down the Toilet!

Mother Nature Takes Over

Mother Nature heeds to nothing when taking over.

As overgrown and snow covered as this Cap Cod style house is,,,  It is not abandoned and a home with a Family that lives in it.  Nice cars are parked in the driveway and a wood stove burning at the time I drove by snapping this photograph.

The Residents are unknown and the reason behind the overwhelming takeover by Mother Nature has brought up many questions.  Could it be intentional by the owners, or perhaps they are physically unable to maintain the yard without a budget to hire Landscapers. Questions that will most likely never be answered.

Longwood Lake

Oh, the Snow came Down
And the Sun came Out
Water always Falls
At the Lake's West Spout

A drive through the Mud
Then park at the Bridge
Take a little Walk
Beyond the small Ridge

Take some Photographs
Just look through the Lens
Snap a Photo or Two
And share them with friends

This Snow soon will Melt
And Wash all Away
But what the Time we had
What a Glorious Day

Daddy's Rusty Car

I love my Daddy, he's a Star
He always drives a Rusty Car
Push the Starter and pull the Choke
Leaving Home in a Cloud of Smoke

Cruise along that rumbling Motor
Clickety Clack that twisted Rotor
Everyone looks and stops to Stare
My Daddy don't mind, he don't Care

Coming home so late at Night
My Daddy's car with one Headlight
I love my Daddy, what a Star
He always drives that Rusty Car

A Winter's Night

STORY OF THE MONTH

A  beautifully written poetic journey that takes you for a majestic walk that opens your senses and clears your head.

"A Winter's Night" may seem like the perfect night for such a walk.  However, you may not realize what true horror you're witnessing until it's too late.
