An original 8x6 sepia photograph I've keep safely stored for many years and today decided to scan it.
This is the Rockaway House located in Rockaway Borough, New Jersey. Originally known as the Riggott's Hotel, changed to what is photographed here as the Rockaway House then later became the Rockaway Hotel. Placed on the corner of East Main Street and Wall Street the building still stands today, long after it's first foundation stone was anchored back in 1894.
This beautiful structure still looks the same except for the porch and balcony no longer exist for a small unattractive brick building was built in front that obstructs her beauty. Today it stands as a Tavern where the spirits pour and some spirits still roam.
This photograph was taken sometime in the 1920's.
